Film wedding photography in Kings Lynn / Richard & Lydia at The Ffolkes
I love shooting film.
Film has a certain softness compared to digital photography.
I shoot digital every wedding that I go to, Digital technology allows me to capture images that I'd never be able to capture on film but yet at times I have a burning desire to slow things down and try to make every shot count; a roll of 36 exposures, well lets make that 36 killer shots.
In September I loaded up a roll of Kodak BW400CN that I'd had sitting in the freezer, yep you read that right the freezer and packed my film camera body at the bottom of my camera bag.
Waiting for its moment!
Richard & Lydia's big day had moved from the Kings Lynn Registry Office to The Folkes at Hillington for their wedding breakfast, which was lovely may I add and then their reception.
Only a stones throw away from The Ffolkes is the gatehouse for Hillington Hall.
It's a backdrop I use for every wedding I shoot at The Ffolkes.
This was where the fun really began; switching between my Canon digital and film camera bodies, dodging the traffic on the busy road to get the shot (don't tell my insurance company!)
Lydia's hair and make up was beautifully prepared by Beauty Bridal of Norwich.
Lydia's dress was Victoria's Bridal Boutique
Flowers were supplied by The Flower Basket of Holbeach, Lincolnshire.
The film and the scans are a little grainy, added to the softness and the odd imperfection and that's film photography.
Personally I love the images, I'm proud of them definitely.
There's just that little extra hint of romance about them.
And I can't wait to another wedding on film.
